NECESSARY MAINTENANCE OF WASTE WATER DUCTS

Citizen Council of the village of Mramor and Palilula Municipality continue their successful activity on ensuring that the quality of life of the inhabitants of this settlement could be significantly improved. On this occasion Boban Dzunic, president of Palilula Municipality visited the illage with his associates.

"The problems of the villagers of Mramor are well known to general public, and we started to solve them today. The problem with the drains, according to the locals, lasts for fifteen or twenty years. Early last year we found the possibility and provided funding for the investment - says Boban Džunić, president of Palilula. The canal was dug, lined with concrete and regulated by the drainage of waste water from the Morava river. However, it is necessary to regularly maintain the channel. With greater rainfall, septic tanks are filled up which is due to landslides. Water goes uncontrolled, floods these areas, households, overflows the channel. It constantly threatens the health of people, especially children who play here, pupils of `Desanka Maksimovic` elementary school. Towards the renovation of the school, the Municipality provided paving driveway to school building.

Today I together with the representatives of the Council of citizens and associates, visited the reconstructed street and several households in Mramor, whose houses were threatened by the new landslides and torrents of water. Fighting the landslide is uncertain and continues - says president Džunić. The Municipality of Palilula will seek the help of professional and competent service team that this situation can be partly rehabilitated. The owners of endangered buildings showed initiative and willingness to actively participate and cooperate in this action.

President Džunić, in accordance with the recommendations of the Government of Serbia, appealed to the Council of the citizens and residents of Mramor to regularly clean the channels in front of their houses, and drains from his fields. In that way, the citizens' initiative and cooperation with the Departments of the Municipality and the competent administration of the City of Nis, will reduce the effects of natural disasters in the field.
